Our little Bo is growing up! The presidential pup --- famous for acting "crazy" and trying to chew on people's feet --- posed for his first official portrait taken on the South Lawn of the White House. Doing his best to look dignified, Bo gazes off into the distance with a jaunty little thrust of his left front paw (the one that looks as if he's wearing a white tube sock pulled up to his knee).

Still, Bo can't hide his innate playfulness --- just look at that open mouth and bit of tongue hanging out. He's waiting for someone to throw a ball!

Want to know more about Bo? Download his baseball card from the White House website. It doesn't include his batting average, but it does reveal that his hobbies include "playing on the White House lawn and going on walks
with the Obama family," and his lofty goal as first dog: to make friends with foreign dognitaries.

But don't believe the part about tomatoes being his favorite food; that was apparently a little joke by the White House. (Tomatoes can be toxic to dogs.)

    Puppy Power Comic Book
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Bo! The Puppy Power comic book stars you-know-who as a superhero. Let's just hope Bo isn't letting all this attention go to his cute shaggy head.

    Stuffed animal
A German company released this adorable stuffed Bo Obama by far the softest, snuggliest piece of presidential paraphernalia we've ever seen!

    Baseball card
The tech-savvy White House now has a Bo Obama baseball card you can download and print (featuring his official portrait). According to the card, Bo's hobbies include playing on the lawn and taking walks. He's not such a great athlete, though ? the card also reveals that he doesn't know how to swim!

He's cute, but we all know that the taxpayers paid for this "official portrait" of a dog. Shameful if you ask me.

Sweetypoo#2 Sweetypoo6-28-2009 @ 8:12PM

A portrait costs maybe $25 and we have maybe, I'll say 1 mil taxpayers. So assuming the taxpayers did pay for the portrait, it may have caused .0000000000001 cents. So Donna, really, do you really believe it would have put that much of a dent in your pocket book? I mean, really. (fake #s were used to prove the point)

Christina#3 Christina7-11-2009 @ 2:11PM

how ridiculous. Let me guess, you are a republican, and NOTHING any democrat will do is good. There were pictures of Barney too, Bush's dog...and who cares. Find something real to complain about. I doubt taking a picture of a dog will set us back. Something positive, and sweet...a freakin picture of a dog for heavens sake, find smething realistic to complain about.

Deb#4 Deb7-11-2009 @ 4:44PM

I would prefer our tax dollars which were minute to pay for the baseball card than to pay for the stains on the blue dress.

Having lived in MA for many years with about 65% residents being Portuguese, their water dog is very handsome. Re tomatoes being toxic to dogs, that is SO WRONG!!!!! My 2 dogs eat tomatoes all the time. Their vet says they are fine for dogs in addition to being healthy.

Shelly#6 Shelly6-28-2009 @ 1:51PM

Actually, tomatoes are not good for dogs, but mine do have the occasional spaghetti sauce!

Richard#7 Richard6-28-2009 @ 8:12AM

You must be a hateful person,,,,,,and surely a Republican who will criticize anything related to the Obama Administration! Get a life, Jerk!

Dbaker#8 Dbaker6-28-2009 @ 9:10AM

rob#9 rob6-28-2009 @ 10:13AM

This dawg is the ONLY DECENT thing in that 'house'-the only thing that is not a lying, despicable, hypocritical, thief. Let's face it-just another democrapic ploy...let's see how long it lives...remember the @!#$%^& clintons HAD a cat and a dog. What happened to them?

we#10 we6-28-2009 @ 2:32PM

Socks died at 18, and Buddy got hit by a car.

Deb#11 Deb7-11-2009 @ 4:45PM

That's right the republicans prefer the real fight, like our bedrooms and stains on a blue dress. How much do you think it cost the taxpayers then? unbelievable....

wethepeople#12 wethepeople6-28-2009 @ 10:17AM

what a waist of tax payers money, and a comic book of the dog ? come on give us tax payers a break and spend our money on something thats going to help america insted of setting up the Obama's with money after he is done destroying our once great country !

suruat#13 suruat6-28-2009 @ 11:03AM

I have to disagree with everyone who thinks this dog is ugly. I think he's very cute, and much better looking than Michelle Obama. She belongs in a dog house.

Joan#14 Joan6-28-2009 @ 11:25AM

Why must so many of you people be mean? Why are you so angry that others are happy? This is a photo of an innocent beautiful little dog who makes the presidential family happy. Be happy for others !!

Debra Douglas#15 Debra Douglas6-28-2009 @ 11:25AM

Who are you to say someone belongs in a dog house. Have your mother ever told you if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say nothing. Maybe that is where you and your mother belongs in more than a dog house. Stop hating on Michelle Obama, you only wish you had half of the class and dignity the woman has. She has more dignity in her pinky finger that you have in you and your whole family, now how bout that.
S-T-O-P H-A-T-I-N-G.

suruat#16 suruat6-28-2009 @ 12:03PM

I agree, Joan. Even a woman as ugly as Michelle should be happy.

Joyce#17 Joyce6-28-2009 @ 11:03AM

OMG, this is so true! The economy is on the brink of collapse, thousands of people are losing their homes every day and have nowhere to keep their dogs, and this is news? A freaking picture of a dog? I liked it before, when the President's dog was photographed here and there as a little levity at the end of a newscast, not put out there as if it is major news. This is what he is doing with his Presidency? This is really sad, and the comic book is a total joke, as well as an insult to Americans everywhere who are stressed and worried about losing their jobs, houses, and everything they have worked hard for. Thanks for thinking about us, President Obama.

Carol#18 Carol6-28-2009 @ 11:35AM

It is truly sad to see some of the posts here. There appears to be a great inhumanity. Yes, their are troubles in the world. Yes, we all are having financial difficulties, Yes, there is fear. But for goodness sake have some compassion. Your hate is sickening. You cannot even bring yourselves to say something nice about a DOG!!! Why must you make rude and disgusting comments about Mrs. Obama??? I do not understand your comments. Both are Obamas are accomplished, educated and intelligent people. Your party lost the White House. For God's sake....GET OVER IT!!!!

chahilly#19 chahilly6-28-2009 @ 12:02PM

BO IS SOOOO CUTE. THE CUTIEST FIRST DOG EVER IN THE WHITE HOUSE. I agree finally a normal family in the white house. These people who surf the internet trying to incite hatred are part of a group unofficially called “internet doggers” they’re main goal is to implement negativity and hatred , the slang is like dogging people out. We can’t feed into their negativity because they surf the internet and post negative comment about the president and the administration, or anything negative about celebrities. These people usually are paid to do this, or they may be some jobless idiot, or some idiot who stays at the computer on work hours surfing the internet to post negative comments. We must report these people because this goes beyond the freedom of speech, it’s a lack of respect and personal attacks towards American citizens and the president.
Can we get back the America when we didn’t have all the hatred and people move on to positive issue. People all over the world read these post, it’s a shame that in this country people promote the act of the devil by passing hatred to innocent kids. I pray none of you have kids in the house learning these hatred acts or hearing ugly comments about other human being. I realize most of you come from broken homes and never had the love from your parents. We true Christian will not play into your games and real Christians know Christ who was about love. Only people who work for the devil would say the ugly things that I have read on this post. I want to thank the people who have not been pulled into being a “internet dogger” posting hatred comments. Obviously, there are still adults in this world who are mature and want America to heal and move on. We may never get back completely what we had in the past but at least we act like we hope to get back most of it before we were rob and stripped by the previous administration. Peace, love and happiness.... to you all. If you don’t know what that is…find it, if you do...keep it. __STOP THE “INTERNET DOGGERS”

Inkling#20 Inkling6-28-2009 @ 11:59AM

It's a cute dog. The comic book is put out by an independent writer, not the White House. Anybody that buys a Beanie Baby Bo Obama stuffed animal for $100.00 obviously has too much money to spend as it will only be worth 2 pennies in a couple of years. People have been hating on this pup since before it was ever purchased just because the Obama family was going to get one. Lighten up, people, it is just a pup that has no control over who it belongs to. The stupidity and moronic idiocy on these blogs never ceases to amaze me.
